The year 2011 is not just the 750th Memorial for Shinran Shōnin, it is also the 90th anniversary of the founding of The Eastern Buddhist Society. We are holding this lecture in hopes of facilitating an encounter with Shinran Shōnin, both as seen through the eyes of D. T. Suzuki, who can be called the father of the Society, and from the perspective of James Dobbins, a leading scholar on Shin Buddhist history in the West. The lecture will be held in English, but a Japanese translation will also be available. Please feel free to join us.
